48th Annual International Phosphate Fertilizer & Sulfuric Acid Technology ConferenceCG Thermal is proud to announce that we will be attending the AiChE 2026 49th Annual International Phosphate Fertilizer & Sulfuric Acid Technology Conference, taking place June 5–6, 2026, at the TradeWinds Resort in St. Petersburg Beach, Florida.

Our team is ready to collaborate on the toughest challenges in chemical processing—whether it’s managing highly corrosive environments, improving plant reliability, or identifying the right material solutions for sulfuric acid and phosphoric acid production.

CG Thermal Presentation

This year, we are excited to contribute to the technical program with a presentation from Greg Becherer during Session 1 at 9:15 AM.

Effects of Steam Conditions and Operating Variables on Graphite Evaporator Performance in Phosphoric Acid Service

This presentation will explore how steam quality and operating conditions directly impact the performance and service life of graphite shell and tube evaporators. Topics will include:

  • Effects of steam temperature variability and desuperheater performance
  • Impact of superheated steam exposure on graphite tubing
  • Fouling, stalled steam flow, and condensate accumulation
  • Thermal stress, vibration, and radial temperature gradients
  • Risks associated with condensation-induced water hammer

Attendees will gain practical insight into how operating variables—not just material selection and design—can influence exchanger reliability, capacity, and maintenance requirements in phosphoric acid service.

About the Conference

Hosted by the Central Florida Section of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers, this annual convention brings together engineers and industry professionals from around the world to exchange ideas and advance chemical process technology.

For nearly five decades, this event has focused on key industries, including:

  • Phosphoric acid production
  • Phosphate fertilizers
  • Sulfuric acid processing
  • Broader chemical process technologies

In addition to technical sessions, the conference offers workshops, networking opportunities, and the ability to earn professional development hours (PDH) for attending full sessions.
